Le Havre: the concept of interest position.

newbies may not realize it yet but the position of the interest would determine the strength of the loans.

loans in le havre serves for one sole purpose. that is to maintain the amount of cash flow in game. one may argue that you could 'take loans' to buy a ship or acquire buildings. they should be noted that the cash flow would be at most $3 which has limited application or just a plain waste of action.

then how would the position of the interest tile affect the power of loan? this is a interesting game with 1-5 players moving up in a track of 7 tiles. 7 is not divisible by 1,2,3,4 or 5. hence one would have a chance to move into all the tiles in the game.

obviously the best position of the interest would be in the middle. where at 4er that you would always land in a tile after deliberately without deducting your just-recent-loan-taken. and the positions at the two ends would not be as good as the middle as one may take loan due to interest/food requirement but then penalized for the other one very soon. and on the other hand, one may have cash problems if the cash flow for that particular turn is not very high while the demand for money is high when you have to take two actions

but then one should be noted that this is not the sole reason to decide to adopt a loan heavy strategy or not.

and if you are taking more than one loan for each loan taking session, i.e. having more thatn 3 food short, you should seriously consider getting a ship or a stack of food.
